after a long 5 1/2 years of being a married couple, we are finally a family of three!

my mom was nice enough to post pictures on my blog while i was still in the hospital, i cant believe it has taken me almost a week to post my own! we were supposed to be induced on may 15th but the hospital is new and could not fit me in until may 23! (other than the waiting) everything went really well! i was only in labor for about 5 hours and delivery was a breeze. im really lucky everything went so well, and we have such an easy baby! he sleeps and eats really well. we are tired, but getting more sleep than we expected to.

my aunt marcia and uncle dick happened to be in salt lake for the weekend and were able to come spend a few hours with us on saturday at the hospital. it was so nice to have them come! dans sister and her husband are in hawaii and havent seen him, (i cant wait for them to get home) but pretty much everyone else has made it over to see him (ryan came while he was here on business, whit is patiently waiting to come)! emma has loved having a cousin and told mandy something along the lines of he is cute, even though he is a boy. she loves to hold him and give him kisses. sophie is good with him as long as mandy doesnt hold him! dans nieves and nephew havent seen him yet because they have been sick!

after 3 years of being an only child nellie is doing okay for the most part. she mostly just ignores him!

we brought him home sunday and my whole family (except whitney and ryan) came over for dinner, and it was nice to just have everyone around. other than that, we have just been hanging around the house. we have had to take him everyday for bloodwork for jaundice (he is on the lights at home) and we had him circumcised on wednesday (poor guy)! Tonight will be my first night alone with him, dan has a trip but gets back tomorrow night.

HE'S HERE!!!

Just a few pictures of the baby- it went great and everything looks good. He was born at 4:52 yesterday afternoon and weighs in at 8 lbs 1 oz and is 20 inches long.

A Chick-Fil-A Family, and Dan the Cow!

Both Dan and his sister Becky have been involved with Chick-Fil-A since they were teenagers and worked there for an after school job. A few years ago Becky was able to become an owner/operator of a store inside fashion place mall. Last year she was given the opportunity to become an owner/operator at a new free standing store at the District shopping center (across from the new daybreak temple). After the building project has been pushed back several times, its finally ready to open!!! They do a whole week of opening events, starting with today. Today and tomorrow they will hand out 10,000 free sandwiches at the store, next week she will have a fancy dedication dinner with employees, family, and friends. then the next night she does a ribbon cutting ceremony with dinner at the store for the same people, then on wednesday night they do an all night party type thing (i dont really know, ive never been to one) where thursday morning when they officially open the first 100 people in line get one free meal a week for a year! Becky has worked so hard for her career, and is so good at what she does. i know Dan looks up to her leadership a lot, and we are so excited to be here while the store is opening!

Dan had the day off today and went to help becky with her giveaway. Becky has him standing on the side of the road in a HUGE (he is like 8 feet tall) cow suit to get people to come in for the sandwiches. He is such a trooper, its like 80 degrees today! I know he was really happy to go help her and be involved!Dan and Becky at the new store

Emmas Sleepover

Last week while my mom was here Emma got to come over and have a sleepover with just my mom and me. We let her stay up WAY late! she is so good to just play and hang out while she is over. The next day her and i went and had our toes done with the popular "sparkle toes" (its in between acrylic and polish and it is pretty much just glitter covering your toe nails, plus it last 4-6 weeks without chipping). the whole time we were getting our toes done she kept saying everyone else is going to be so sorry they didnt come with us! (my mom, mandy, and lindsey being everyone else). I think when everyone saw how cool our toes were they were sorry! Emma got a lighter purple and I got a magenta color, dan says it is way me!emma playing with nellieemma at the nail salon

quick update

I went to the doctor yesterday for another ultrasound and to find out what day i will be induced. The ultrasound looked good, they guessed he is at 8 pounds 2 ounces (which i thought he would be a lot more by now) and everything else looked good. they called to schedule me at the hospital but the hospital cant fit me in until thursday may 22 (my due date)! the whole reason to be induced was to insure dan will be there, but now if i go a single day early chances are he might not make it. im also a little worried about more than a week left for him to grow, but im sure whatever happens it will all work out. im on a waiting list at the hospital for tuesday and wednesday so im really keeping my fingers crossed that a bunch of people who are scheduled to be induced next week go into labor on their own this weekend!

i was really upset yesterday about the still waiting stuff so dan went to home depot and picked up a few box planters. i have really been wanting to do a little garden but i dont really have a space for it and they are in the middle of laying sod in our yard so i cant plant anything on the ground right now. he set it all up at the kitchen counter so i can plant what i want then he can carry it out and put it on our patio. im really excited! im going to plant yellow and red tiny tomatoes, beens, radishes, and red bell peppers. ive never really done any planting before so hopefully they dont all end up dead! i will post pictures when im done!
